Scope of tribulation
Northern army will invade Judah:

It will destroy the fields. (1:6-7)

It will burn the pastures. (1:19-20)

It will set fire on the land. (2:1-3)

It will spoil the houses. (2:4-9)
Impact of tribulation
-
No crops. They will be eaten up. (1:4)
-
No wine. (1:5,10)
-
No fruit. (1:7,12)
-
No corn. (1:10,17)
-
No oil. (1:10)
-
No harvest. (1:11)
-
No meat offering and drink offering. (1:9,13)
-
No food and water for flocks and beasts. (1:18,20)

No joy and gladness. (1:16)
What should the people do and why?
-
Call a solemn assembly, sanctify the congregation, fast and pray in the house of God. (1:14,2:12-17)

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. (2:13)
How will the Lord respond to prayer?
-
He will pity his people, give them corn, wine and oil, remove the northern army. (2:18-20).

Pastures will spring (曠野的草發生), trees will bear fruits. (2:22)
-
He will send rain and restore wheat, wine and oil. (2:23-25)
-
People shall eat and be satisfied. They shall not be ashamed. (2:26-27)

He shall bring back the captivity. (3:1)

He will judge the nations. (3:1-15,19)

He shall show great wonders in heaven and earth. (2:30,3:15-16)

He shall deliver the remnant. (2:32,3:16)
