  1. What is a parable? Why did Jesus use parable to speak to the public? (Matt 13:13-16)

  2. Why would the believers understand the meaning of the parable but the non-believers would not? (John 16:13)

  3. Why were Jesus’ disciples unable to understand the meaning of the parable of the sower? Did it imply anything about the degree of their faith?

  4. What is the difference between the response of the disciples and of the public after hearing? What does that mean to us?

  5. In the first three cases of seed-sowing, what is the difference with respect to the responses of the hearers?

  6. In the second and third cases of seed-sowing, what are the causes for the hearers to give up the Christian belief?
