The parable of the vineyard (Mk 12:1-12)

  1. Before giving the vineyard to the husbandmen (tenants) to manage, what kinds of resources has the lord of the vineyard invested in the vineyard?

  2. What has God created for man to manage? What kinds of resources has He invested beforehand? (Gen 1 & 2)

  3. What kinds of resources has God invested in His plan of salvation? What aspiration did He have for mankind?

  4. How did the tenants treat the Lord’s servants? What attributes of God and man did the entire course reflect? What sorts of obstacles were met when God executed His plan of salvation?

  5. Why did the tenants kill the son of the lord? What did Jesus really mean for ‘the inheritance’ (v7) in the parable? How did this parable realize in Jesus himself? (Mark 15:11-13)

  6. The lord destroyed the tenants and gave it to someone else to manage. What attribute of God did this reflect? Also, what kinds of acts did it reflect that God has done in His plan of salvation? (Rom 11:11)

  7. When Jesus said of himself becoming “the head of the corner” (v10), what did he mean by that? (Ephe 2:16-20)

  8. Do you agree that God’s plan of salvation is marvelous? Why?

  9. What did the fate of the tenants imply? (Matt 23:29,34-36)

  10. What lesson have the chief priests learned from the parable? What lesson have you learned?
